Terms of Use

These conditions govern every visit, search, and use of content on Sanilac County Criminal History. Continuing to use the website signals acceptance of all terms below. A person who does not agree must stop using it.

NO FCRA USE. This privately operated website has no connection to a local, Michigan, or federal government body. It and its advertising partners do not offer a service for credit, employment, insurance, tenant, or other decisions governed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Its purpose is to route readers to Sanilac County and Michigan criminal-record resources. It is neither a private investigation business nor a consumer reporting agency.

1. What This Website Is

This is a private reference site with no government affiliation. It cannot store or issue official criminal records, perform an official background check, or submit a form for a user.

Its content directs readers to the Sanilac County Sheriff's Office, the 73A District and 24th Circuit courts, Michigan State Police Criminal Justice Information Center, and Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry. Michigan State Police maintains repository records under the Bureau of Criminal Identification and Records Act, MCL 28.241 et seq. Some pages also connect to third-party research tools.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use of the website is conditioned on these rules. You may not:

  • Use the website in breach of a local, Michigan, or federal law
  • Threaten, harass, or stalk a person with information found here
  • Apply the content to hiring, housing, credit, or insurance decisions
  • Seek unauthorized access to any system or account
  • Send bots, scrapers, or other automated collection tools through the pages
  • Interfere with site speed, access, or another visitor's use

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No information from this resource or a linked tool may be used to stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten, or discriminate against anyone. Such acts can be unlawful. This restriction is especially important for Michigan Public Sex Offender Registry data. Michigan law limits the release and use of registry information, and misuse may have legal consequences. Registry access supports public safety, not vigilantism or discriminatory action.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Sanilac County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It creates no credit report, background check, or other consumer report. Its advertising partners and search tools are not presented for evaluating job applicants, rental applicants, insurance risk, or credit. You may not use the site or linked-tool data to:

  • Set credit terms or insurance premiums
  • Make a hiring or firing decision
  • Evaluate a renter or housing applicant
  • Decide eligibility for a permit, license, or government benefit
  • Carry out any other purpose regulated by the FCRA

A legally permitted official check must be obtained from the proper authorized channel, such as Michigan State Police, or from a compliant consumer reporting agency.

5. No Legal Advice

Content is general information, not legal advice. It cannot determine how a Sanilac County charge, conviction, warrant, or Michigan set-aside rule affects a particular person. Consult a licensed Michigan attorney for that analysis.

6. No Warranties

All material and functions are supplied "as is." We make no promise that:

  • Outside search results will be complete or correct
  • All content is current, accurate, or complete at a particular time
  • The website will remain available without interruption
  • Every page will be free from bugs, mistakes, or security flaws

Criminal records change as charges are filed, amended, dismissed, or set aside. Updates can lag, so gaps are unavoidable. Nothing published here is an official statement from a court, sheriff, or government agency.

7. Third-Party Services and Links

Links lead to government offices, court portals, state agencies, legal resources, and outside search services. A linked destination is beyond our control. We are not responsible for its content, prices, availability, or treatment of user data. Review its terms before use.

8. Intellectual Property

Sanilac County Criminal History or its content partners own the website's text, graphics, logos, and code. Written permission is required to copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative work from that material.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the broadest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for harm resulting from use of this website, its content, or a linked service.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend and hold us harmless from claims, demands, and proceedings caused by your use of the site or violation of these terms, including related legal costs.

11. Governing Law

Michigan law governs these terms. Any dispute arising from use of this website must be filed in a court located in Michigan.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these terms. A revision becomes effective when the updated text is posted here.

13. Cutting Off Access

Access may be restricted or ended at any time, for any reason, without advance notice.

14. Severability

If one provision is ruled invalid or unenforceable, the remaining terms continue in force. The affected provision will be narrowed only as far as needed.

15. Questions

Questions about these conditions may be directed through the Contact page.
